Info about Internet Privacy
The Future of Internet Privacy
Internet privacy has unfortunately become a thing of the past. It used to be that you could take extra precautions against protecting yourself from cyber stalking, tracking and identity theft through the Internet, but hackers continue to find new ways to find your information even when visiting completely “safe” and protected websites. There are some steps you can take to protect your privacy, but you should remain cautious and not trust that your information will not be made available to someone who really wants it. Everyone has a right to their privacy, but it is not always possible to protect yourself on the Internet.
It continues to get extremely difficult to avoid having your activities online being tracked. Many things you do and view on the Internet can be tracked and used for assumptions about you and what you enjoy such as tracking your Internet television, the products and services you buy, websites you visit, and other types of Internet monitoring. It is no coincidence that if you visit a blog about healthy eating, the next website you visit while unrelated to healthy eating, will have a pop-up or advertisement banner about dieting or weight loss. This is due to advanced monitoring of your Internet activity, in order to personalize ads for things you might be interested in.
A variety of companies that request your personal information for purchasing items from their site or signing up for their free services, can turnaround and sell your information to individuals looking to spam your email, send you unsolicited mail or telemarketing phone calls. Hackers use the lack of internet privacy to their advantage to get your personal information in order to get involved in Internet scams like phishing t steal your identity and possibly invade your bank account and withdraw your money. Additionally, cyber stalking is a big concern in regards to internet privacy as these individuals can get a lot of information about their victims with a simple internet search of their name, school or employer.
In the future, some additional steps need to be made in order to crack down on the lack of Internet privacy. This includes maintaining a higher level of privacy protection for communications over the Internet and raising the legal protections for transactional data that is collected on various websites. There needs to be more rules established that will give each individual more control over what person information can be distributed and a more advanced privacy protection policy that will help to improve the future of Internet privacy.
